Membership Terms

1. What the service is - and is not

Admitted provides an email membership: a personal @admitted.law address, the supporting account and verification infrastructure, and nothing more. Admitted is not a law firm, and members are independent professionals who are individually responsible for their own practice.

Admitted does not, and will not:

• Accept or route legal matters.
• Give legal advice.
• Form attorney-client relationships.
• Run conflicts checks for members.
• Collect legal fees.
• Share fees, recommend, rank, match, or refer lawyers.
• Describe members as partners, colleagues in a common practice, or jointly responsible.
• Control any member's legal judgment or representation.

Members must identify the actual responsible lawyer and firm or employer in their communications where required, and must comply with their own jurisdiction, employer, client, records, confidentiality, supervision, advertising, and unauthorized-practice obligations. The address is not a credential; what membership does and does not verify is defined on the Standards page.

2. One address, nontransferable

Each membership includes exactly one address. It is personal to the verified member and nontransferable: it may not be sold, lent, delegated, or used by anyone else, and no member may send as another member.

3. Account security duties

Members must maintain the required authentication configuration: a user-verifying passkey, or a password combined with TOTP, plus acknowledged recovery codes. Password-only access can never activate or administer a mailbox. Members must keep their external recovery email current, must not share credentials, and must promptly report suspected account compromise.

4. Professional-status reporting

Membership depends on current authorization to practice. A member must notify Admitted within 48 hours of learning of any suspension, revocation, resignation, or other change that removes or restricts the member's authorization to practice in every jurisdiction that qualified them for membership. Admitted also reverifies members periodically against official sources.

5. Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. The mailbox is for ordinary one-to-one and small-group professional correspondence; bulk sending, deception, and impersonation are prohibited as that policy describes.

6. Billing and cancellation

$199.99 per month plus applicable tax. Automatically renews monthly until canceled. Cancel online at any time; cancellation stops future renewals and service normally continues through the current paid period. This payment is separate from the application fee.

Membership billing begins only after approval, through a second, separate checkout with its own affirmative consent - approval alone never creates a charge. Cancellation is available online from the member billing page and never requires a phone call, chat, survey, or retention offer. Voluntary cancellation carries no prorated refund by default, subject to mandatory law; refund and credit rules are in the Refund Policy.

7. Suspension and professional-status changes

No account renews indefinitely while Admitted prevents meaningful use. At policy level:

• A confirmed loss of every qualifying authorization to practice suspends outbound sending and pauses billing - Admitted does not keep charging for an address the member cannot properly use. A human correction review concludes within 30 days: service is restored with billing reconciled, or membership ends with the export window below.
• When a status restriction is applied, Admitted gives notice, the source, the exact status label, and a correction channel, unless a security or legal order prevents disclosure.
• An ambiguous or unavailable license source is not treated as misconduct; service normally continues while staff checks, and restricted time beyond a short window is paused and credited.
• Suspected compromise, abuse investigations, and legal orders may restrict service in proportion to the risk, with logged reasons, an appeal path where applicable, and the billing credits and deadlines summarized in the Refund Policy.
• Meaningful unavailability caused by Admitted or its mailbox provider lasting more than 24 hours is credited; a prolonged outage triggers a cancellation offer with an appropriate refund or credit and export assistance.

8. Address retirement

When a membership ends - by cancellation, nonpayment, loss of eligibility, expulsion, or death - the address is permanently retired. Admitted will never intentionally reassign an activated address to anyone else while it controls the domain, including after cancellation, death, or expulsion. No operator can guarantee control of a domain after an involuntary registry termination, loss of the domain, or a transfer outside Admitted's succession plan; the nonreassignment promise applies for as long as Admitted controls admitted.law.

9. Export and deletion after membership ends

After the paid period ends, the former member has a 30-day authenticated export window for mailbox content. Mailbox content is purged no later than 60 days after the membership ends, subject to any documented legal hold. Only a narrow permanent record that the address was assigned is kept, so it can never be reassigned; the Privacy Notice describes that retention.

10. Death or incapacity

On verified notice of a member's death or incapacity, Admitted suspends outbound sending, stops future billing, and preserves the mailbox against takeover. No estate, delegate, or representative has default access to mailbox content. A verified representative may receive content only after a counsel-approved legal and identity review; otherwise Admitted preserves and then purges content on the disclosed schedule without disclosing it.

11. Confidentiality warning

Lawyers may transmit client information, so these limits must be plain:

• Ordinary email is not end-to-end encrypted.
• Admitted and its future contracted mailbox provider will process message content only as described in the Privacy Notice.
• The address itself does not create privilege and does not make email an appropriate channel for highly sensitive material.
• Each member must evaluate client consent, matter sensitivity, and their jurisdiction's duties before sending client information by email.
